105 Traders Arrested for Operating Unauthorized Businesses

A total of 105 traders have been arrested for operating unauthorized businesses in Mukono town.
The suspects were arrested yesterday evening during an operation conducted by a team led by the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Denis Namuwoza.

The operation covered the areas of Industrial zone, Kikooza, Nasuuti, Butebe, Nabuti and Collin market road.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owesigire, 105 suspects have been arrested awaiting to be charged for defying presidential directives. Owesigire notes that according to their intelligence reports many traders had opened up unauthorized shops and arcades contrary to the presidential directive against the fight of Covid-19.

Among the arrested traders include traders operating garages, spare parts shops, traders and without masks and others running businesses in congested places.
