The albinism society in Uganda has called for more sensitization to the public

The albinism society in Uganda has called for more sensitization to the public so that they can be recognized as fellow human beings regardless of their colors.

Speaking to our reporter today, the Executive Director Albinism Umbrella Oliver noted that they are discriminated in communities, educational sectors and the Health sectors which has created stigma amongst them.

Nyamahunge Elizabeth an albino from Hoima noted that they are discriminated to the extent that even if they are operating business, they don’t receive customers calling them ghosts which has greatly affected their lively hood.

Hon Balinda Resty the female councilor for Rwengaju who was the guest of honor argued the albinos to always stay positive and relaxed so that they are not hurt by the nicknames people call them.
