AIGP Kasigye grills Fort Portal Police over Corruption and indiscipline

The Director Chief Political Commissariat and Assistant Inspector of Police Asan Kasingye has grilled police officers in Kabarole district over the rampant cases of corruption and indiscipline.

Kasigye says many police officers at Fort Portal extract money from suspects so as to release them on police bond. He said this is the main source of corruption where everyone takes advantage of releasing suspects from police cells directing that it’s only the OC station and OCCID responsible for the release and detention of suspects in custody.

Kasingye directed the district police commanders to charge or dismiss such police officer who are found corrupt saying that they tarnish the image of police.

He was speaking to Police officers in meeting held at the Fort Portal Municipal Yard on Monday. The ratification exercise started on Monday and is ongoing in all districts of both Rwenzori West and East and exercise is meant to reform service delivery in police.

Kasingye Directed the DPC Kabarole to arrest and charge all police officers who are always drunk in police uniform saying that this has affected the image of police.
