RWIMI TOWN COUNCIL LEADERSHIP, LOCALS DISAGREE ON ALLOCATION OF PLOTS FOR LOCKUPS.

Conflicts raise in Rwimi town council, Bunyangabu district between residents and leadership of Rwiimi town council caused by misunderstandings on allocations plots lockups in Rwimi trading canter.

In March this year, the leadership of Rwimi town council called for applications from all eligible applicants who want to get sites of building lockups in the Rwimi trading center, after hearing announcements over 300 people applied, and the town council leadership revealed that only 150 people were successful as they had all the requirements.

During the meeting of residents and leaders of the town council today that was held at the council headquarters in Rwimi town council, Kazooba Robert Salongo said that they are dissatisfied with their leaders as they did not follow the laws they made themselves during the distribution of plots of building lockups which has caused them to lose a lot of money.

Kazooba revealed the requirements of which they had to first pay 50,000 shillings non-refundable after paying 1million shillings for the plot in the trading center and 800,000 shillings for the plot not on the roadside.

Kemirembe Yuster revealed that leaders have given out one plot to over one person which has raised conflicts and other given plots which are not equal to the amount of money they paid which was evidenced by their receipts.

Abel Ngomayondi Mayor Rwimi town council said that as a district they are focused on development so they are not going to tolerate conflicts in the town council, they want leaders to sit and find a solution for the people who have paid their money whether they paid it in a right way.

However, the town clerk of Rwimi town council Mr. Mugabe Robert said that the receipts those people have are not authorized by the leadership of the town council as people made them their own so as to get plots in the town council.

He disclosed that among those ran quickly to pay in the bank without consulting the leaders for guidance.
