Domestic Violence a Threat to Development

A 24year old woman who had been at the Kabarole district COVID 19 quarantine Center has been discharged after her results tested negative.

The woman (names withheld) a mother of two and a resident in Bushenyi District was on 4th may 2020 picked by a truck driver from Mubende after being severely battered by his husband.

The Woman said that after being battered, she decided to walk from her marital home in Mubende to her ancestral home in Bushenyi, until when she was given a lift by a truck driver to Fort Portal.

She narrated to our reporter that had it not been domestic violence, she would not have been quarantined.

While handing over Certificate of discharge on Tuesday, The Kabarole Deputy RDC Mr. Bandeeba Festus condemned acts of domestic violence and asks men to respect their wives and avoid assaulting them.

According to Catherine Kemigabo the Kabarole District Health Educator, says the woman was quarantined basing on her history of travel. She says the medical team will transport and reunite her with the family in Bushenyi.
