Gov’t Tasked to Increase Funding to the Health Sector
Linda Irene Mugisa the Woman MP Aspirant Fort Portal Tourism City demands government to increase funding to the health sector so as to improve services and facilities, including setting new infrastructure in a bid to improve sector performance in the country.
Linda suggests that with the increased funding, construction of hospitals in districts will be done effectively, development of intensive care units in all districts and purchase of ambulances in every district.
Linda, who promises to lobby for increased funding once elected, says maternal and mortality would be history.
She was yesterday responding to questions from residents in Mugoma Fort Portal City who lamented of the inadequate health services in health centers citing drug shortage, limited ambulances to pick expectant mothers from villages among others.
Dr. Alex Adaku the Hospital Director decries the lack of a CT scan in the facility saying they are forced to refer most accident victims with head injuries to Mbarara Referal Hospital and Mulago.
Currently the health sector budget stands at Shs 2.7 trillion, indicating a slight increase from Shs 2.5 trillion in Financial Year 2019/2020.
