Kabarole Police Apologizes to journalists over torture of their colleague.
he Police in Kabarole District has appologized to Journalists following the torture of their colleague by security operatives implementing the curfew.
On Thursday Over 40 electronic and print journalists operating in Fort Portal stormed the police station demanding justice after the
torture of their colleague Fortunate Katungi of Jubilee FM.

Kugonza a reporter, Ritah Kobusinge news anchor, Joshua Ahabyona his co-sports presenter on Wednesday night at around 7:20PM was beaten by security in Kisenyi , Fort Portal town.
On Friday afternoon an urgent meeting of Top security officers and journalists was held, Chaired by Regional Police Comander Mr Otong at the RPC’s office in Booma Fort Portal. .
The officers verbally apologized and later footed the medical bill for Fortunate Katungi who was admitted at Alpha Medical Center. They also compensated him for the money he lost and recovery of his national ID which he lost on that fateful day.
According to Felix Basiime the Bureau Chief Daily Monitor Rwenzori, the Officers also pronounced themselves on not harming journalists and citizens again while enforcing the COVID 19 laws put by government.
Basiime Commended journalists for the unity, Human Rights Network For Journalists Uganda for the legal back up and all the efforts of the different security forces bosses that made sure reconciliation transpired.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy RDC, The police PRO, The Regional CID, the UPDF Mountain Division Political Commisar Lt Col Tayebwa, Capt Sanyu, UPDF mountain Divion PRO Capt Mawanda, DISO, DPC, OC station, Regional Community Liason Officer and Regional PSU Akol.
