RDC calls for enforcement of presidential directives over covid 19 ahead of reopening of public transport
Kabarole deputy RDC Mr. Bandeba Festus calls for enforcement of presidential directives and guide lines from the ministry of healthy over the spread of covid 19 today in a meeting held at the regional offices of Rwenzori West in Boma Fort portal Municipality ahead of the reopening of public means of transport tomorrow 4th Thursday, as the partial easing of lock down in Uganda whereby some businesses and private vehicles were allowed to move and operate last week.
The meeting was for all transport communities that operate within the district like; all companies of buses, all taxis stages and leaders of boda boda riders in Kabarole.
Bandeba Festus warned drivers to avoid the risk of overcharging passengers and carrying them to and from districts neighboring boarders like Kasese, Ntoroko, Bundibugyo, Rubirizi among others.
He said that they have to follow the president directive of carrying 7 passengers for taxis and half of the bus capacity so as to maintain social distance.
The OC traffic ASP Tumwebaze Jorum revealed that by starting with tomorrow morning there will be joint operations around Fort portal to make sure that people have to implement the keeping social distance and enforce presidential directives.
Transport operators have also agreed to follow the presidential directives and cooperate with security team so as to fight covid 19 together while operating their businesses.
They asked government and ministry of health through the office of RDC to put measures and check truck drivers that have been operating in Kabarole district for the safety of their lives as they have been home not working.
