RESIDENTS BLOCK RUHANDIIKA STREET OVER DUST

By Musa polite, July, 03, 2020

Business men and women who operate along Ruhandiika Street in fort portal tourism city have this morning blocked the same road over dust on the road, which they say has affected their business negatively

According to the residents, city authorities destroyed the tarmac that was in the road without consulting them; they wonder why they have not finished the road for the last three months. They complain that the delay to complete the road has made dust to penetrate their businesses, prompting customers to shun their products and services.

One of the residents who operate a chair show room at the same street says that the chairs are full of dust; he is likely to incur more costs in repairing them because customers have shunned his chairs due to the dust that comes from the murum that was put in the road.

Business men and women say that they will continue blocking the road until the city authorities do the needful.

Our efforts to talk to city authorities were futile as their known contacts were not picked and they were not in office, however Oese John Vastine, the Kabarole district police commander who calmed down the angry residents says the dust on the road is a matter of public concern, he promised to engage leaders for action.

This comes after a few days Ngabwa Arthur, a resident of Kitumba central division fort portal tourism city threatened to sue city authority over murum heaps along Kaboyo road which caused an accident that led to his disability.
