Spectrum Uganda in a Campaign to Reduce HIV Prevalence
The Spectrum Uganda (NGO) program officer for Rwenzori region Mr Ian Katundu has expressed concern over the high HIV/AIDs prevalence among the female sex workers which is at 38.7 percent country wide and that of men to men at 13.7 percent.
Mr Katunde said it is unfortunate such category of people when they visit health facilities some are stigmatized while others discriminated.
This was revealed yesterday during an advocacy meeting held at Bunyangabu District Headquarters.
The advocacy officer spectrum Uganda Ms Suzan Atuhura said all people have right access to health irrespective of their sex, culture and religion saying it is unfair for some people to be denied service.
The Bunyangabu District Health Officer Dr Richard Obeti said as district they appealing to all people to come for testing and know their status to avoid the transmission of virus.
