The national curriculum development centre under the ministry of education made changes in the lower secondary curriculum which directs teachers to stop classes at 2:40pm and take students to projects and field involvement, teachers at different schools around fort portal municipality have however relaxed from taking up the changes according to senior one students.
Our reporter engages students from Kagote seed secondary school and Mpanga secondary school, both government and students disclosed that for several times, they have tried to ask their teachers why they are not going for projects but teachers have always tried to intimidate them not to ask.
Students say that teachers leave class even before the recommended time and direct students to keep in class until the time for going home. Students say that this has created a lot of relaxing in teachers as they know that after is free time.
Madam Kaija Babrah, the dean of students for lower school at Mpanga secondary school dismisses the claims, saying that since the term began, they have been involved in different activities that benefit the students like orientation in the first week and sports week in the second week, saying that thay are going to start immediately this week.
